Description

A hostage rescue at a large Russian dam in the middle of a snowfield: concrete galleries and machine halls inside, the snow skybox and industrial hum outside. Four workers are held in the complex, and each team can use three security cameras during the breach — a mechanic almost no other map of the era touched. Half-Life props are scattered around as easter eggs, the G-Man among them.

Chris Auty (Barney) built Thunder in two weeks, with texture rebuilds by j0eSm0e; it went gold with retail Counter-Strike 1.0 in late 2000 alongside his Aztec, entered the rotation in CS 1.1 and was cut from CS 1.3. The map measures 4352 × 6784 × 1280 units with 20 spawns, and its geometry is 6410 faces and 117 textures next to de_dust2's 5383 and 44. The archive installs the .bsp with cs_thunder.wad, the snow skybox, four ambient tracks, the referenced Half-Life models, the radar overview and a .res file.
