Description

An alpine village buried in snow. Timber-framed houses with steep gabled roofs and carved balconies stand along stone retaining walls and cobbled ramps, everything under a thick white layer; bare trees and firs are frosted over, a street lamp burns beside a wooden signboard, and rock slopes and mountain walls close the village in on every side. One shot looks down a yard with a picket fence and a stone terrace towards the main house; another stands at ground level between two chalets whose facades are lined with shuttered windows; a third takes the whole centre from above, with paths and steps threading between roofs; a fourth follows a paved lane out towards the valley. The light on the shots is flat and bright, a white overcast with snow falling.

The map measures 6232 × 6904 × 1310 units, a large footprint by engine standards, wider than de_dust2 (4864 × 5600 × 960) though nowhere near the height of de_aztec (7328 × 4432 × 2368). Sixteen counter-terrorist and sixteen terrorist spawns seat 32 players. Two bomb sites, no hostages or rescue zones, and the map marks buy zones for both teams. Geometry runs to 13,866 faces and 103 textures, none of them embedded, so the archive ships its own de_alps.wad. Snow falls as weather and there is no water. The entity count is 554 and most of it is scenery: 207 non-solid decorative pieces, 70 sprites, 67 animated sprite props, 22 ambient sound emitters, three breakable objects and two beam effects. Besides the .bsp, the archive installs 5 models, 15 sounds, 2 sprites, the wad and a radar overview image.
