Description
Damascus steel takes its look from the wavy banding that shows up when folded steel is etched, and here that banding is carried over in blue and white: broad loops down the middle of the blade, tightening into knots towards the point. The guard, the collar and the pommel are blue as well, and a slot is cut through the steel near the tip. The M9 has been the field bayonet of the US Army since 1986: it mounts on a rifle, and together with its scabbard it works as a wire cutter. The hands are the game’s own black fingerless gloves.
The view model holds 2,144 polygons against the stock knife’s 1,040, on 40 bones, under thirteen textures: the three stock hand maps and ten pieces of the knife, among them 200×989 and 204×1001 strips for the two faces of the blade and a 68×800 strip for the collar of the handle. There is no chrome map, so the pattern reads as paint rather than as light moving over steel. The idle runs 360 frames and the draw 30. What other players see was rebuilt at 1,512 polygons where the stock third-person knife has 112, and the nine knife sounds are in the archive. There is no dropped-knife model, so on the ground it stays standard.
