Description
Two concrete firing galleries facing each other across a sunken lane of grass and sand, at night, with the lit windows of a city on the horizon. One gallery is washed in red light, the other in blue, and each is a long open room with a raised floor, a ladder to the roof, a viewing slot cut the whole length of the wall and rifles lying on the concrete where they were left for the taking. A sign on the red side reads "target range access". Between the two, the ground drops into a hedged trench with sandbag positions and a yellow warning board planted in the sand; the frames taken from above show a shelter with cabinets standing on the roof of one gallery.
The map measures 2296 × 1216 × 496 units, one of the tightest plans the engine will hold, and its geometry matches: 1,005 faces on 34 textures, none of them packed into the .bsp, where cs_assault has 3,206 faces on 182. Both sides get 10 spawn points, so 20 players start a round. The whole map is its weapon layout: 82 Scouts, 42 AWPs, 40 G3SG1 rifles, 110 sets of kevlar and helmet and 20 HE grenades are spread on the floor, which is where any round on this map begins. Despite the file name there are no hostages and no rescue zones, and no bomb sites either. Buy zones are set to auto, so the engine places them at the spawns. The parts a player touches are 10 breakable objects, 6 ladders, 4 see-through decorative brushes and 4 sound emitters. The sky is the backalley set and there is no water. Alongside the map the archive installs three ambience sounds.
