Description
A hostage map drawn in the flat blocky idiom of early nineties shooters. Walls are single unshaded panels of painted brick, grey stone, blue tile and wood grain, each one a plain rectangle, the ceiling is a low uniform grey and the floor a featureless light plane; green dome lamps hang in rows and cast rectangular pools of light. The hostages stand behind barred cell doors set into a blue block wall. Outdoors is the same idea: waist high walls of brick and stone around an empty white apron, with a painted skyline of glass towers and a bank of dark cloud behind them. It reads as a deliberate exercise in one style rather than an attempt at a real place.
The map is 4000 × 3936 × 288 map units, and the last figure is the whole design: with 288 units of headroom everything is one flat storey. Twenty spawns per side seat 40 players, which is a lot for a map this plain. Four hostages set the objective, there are no bomb sites and no rescue zone, and the map has no buy zones of its own, so the engine puts buying at the spawns. Geometry is 646 faces and 31 textures, all of them embedded in the .bsp, next to the 3,206 faces and 182 textures of the stock cs_assault: it is close to the floor of what this engine will render. Fifteen sprites and two doors are the entire entity list of note, and the archive installs its own sprite set alongside the map.
