Description
A comic-book explosion: a spiky starburst outlined in white with the word BOOM hand-lettered across the middle, plus a small exclamation mark cut off at the right edge. Only greys and white are used, and the paint has a grainy, sprayed look. The background is opaque, so the wall gets a black square with the burst inside it rather than the burst alone.
The picture is a 64x64 wad3, packed into a .wad here from the raw 8-bit logo that sat on the source page. Since a pixel equals a unit on the wall and a CS 1.6 player stands 72 units tall, the square reads slightly shorter than a person. 237 of the 256 palette slots are in use because of the grain, and there is no transparency at all. The file weighs 6,296 bytes and stays inside the 16 KB tempdecal limit. Two internet shortcut files were bundled in the archive.
How to install the spray
- Download the file and rename it to tempdecal.wad (keep the extension).
- Copy it into the cstrike folder of your game (…/Half-Life/cstrike), replacing the existing file.
- Set the file to read-only — otherwise the game overwrites it when you touch the logo settings.
- In game, press T (the spray key) to paint it on any wall.
The options menu shows the logo in one color — in the game itself the spray keeps all its colors.
