A dark red blade with a band of gold scrollwork running along the spine and a gold chrysanthemum stamped near the ricasso; the guard bar and the pommel are gold as well and squared off, so the knife reads as a short sword rather than a bayonet. The ring on the guard is still the part by which the M9 slides onto a rifle barrel, and the knife is held in the stock black fingerless gloves.

The view model holds 2,818 polygons against the stock knife’s 1,040, on 40 bones, under fourteen textures. Three are the stock hand maps at 252×250, 124×126 and 252×123; ten are separate pieces of the knife, among them 200×989 and 204×1001 strips for the faces of the blade and a 68×800 map for the grip; and a 64×64 chrome map adds the mirrored sheen GoldSrc fakes on metal. The idle runs 360 frames, the draw 30, each slash and stab 36. The third-person model was rebuilt to 1,512 polygons where the stock one has 112, and nine knife sounds ship with the archive. Nothing replaces the dropped knife, so on the ground it stays standard.
