Description
A short cut of the desert map, reduced to a couple of open yards and the passages between them. The walls are the familiar sandstone blocks with carved bands, the ground alternates packed sand, cobbled strips and a section of smooth flagstone, and bare rock ridges rise straight behind the parapets. One shot looks across a wide sanded yard toward a wall with two wooden crates against it and arched windows above. Another stands beside a large crate near a doorway framed by an arch, with more crates in the depth. A third shows a low walled pit next to a flagged terrace and a double wooden gate in the corner. Bright day, blue sky with thin cloud, hardly any shadow.
The map measures 2304 × 3168 × 768 units, compact by the standards of the engine and much smaller than de_dust2 (4864 × 5600 × 960). Nine counter-terrorist and eight terrorist spawns seat 17 players, which sets the intended scale. There is one bomb site, no hostages and no rescue zones, and the map marks no buy zones of its own, so the engine places them at the spawns. Geometry is very light: 1,701 faces and 26 textures, none of them packed into the .bsp, against 5,383 faces and 44 textures in de_dust2. Sky is the desert set and there is no water. Five breakable objects and twelve non-solid decorative brushes make up the rest. Besides the .bsp the archive drops two more files into the maps folder.
