Description
A desert town with something buried under it. Above ground the walls are adobe and sandstone in reddish ochre, the ground is loose sand, and the frames show a lane under a masonry arch with a red shop sign in Arabic, washing hung on a line, a low wall with barbed wire and an arched gateway further on; another lane runs along a concrete wall shaded by a slatted timber canopy. One interior is a small room with plastered walls, a chest of drawers, a stool, a patterned rug and shelves stacked with jars, its doorway open onto a sunlit courtyard. The last frame drops into a concrete hall where a large missile hangs in steel cradles under a corrugated ceiling, with a control panel on the wall, hazard-striped catwalks, crates and hostages in orange overalls standing below.
The map is 2432 × 2784 × 400 map units and runs to 6,780 faces over 117 textures, more polygons than the 5,383 of de_dust2. The entity lump reads as a single entity, so the file gives up no spawn counts, no hostages and no rescue zones to the parser, even though the frames plainly show hostages standing in the underground hall; a map that returns numbers like these is usually protected against decompiling. The map is built on cs_arabstreets2.wad, itsitaly.wad and torntextures.wad, and the archive ships the first of the three.
