CS: Source Pre-delayed
Although the Counter-Strike: Source BETA was initially planned to be pre-loaded on August 5th, that date has been pushed back, according to an e-mail from Jess Cliffe of Valve Software:
Counter-Srike: Source will not start pre-loading on the 5th. We are working extremely hard to get it out and will have more information on this soon.The CS: Source BETA was scheduled to be made available for play on the 10th. It's unknown, but likely, if that date will be pushed back as well.

I wonder why valve even mentions a date. They should just get it together completely finished..then say a date. They seem to delay EVERYTHING. Even stupid beta tests are delayed.......
it's the PRELOADING date, not the relase!!!
only <400MB to load, 1-3 days less time won't hurt!
You guys should stop attacking them. The amount of support and information they give their community far surpasses any other gaming company in existance. A delay means they care about a perfect release, not that they are attempting to upset every person who is looking forward to the game.

Who cares if the pre-load is delayed. I will only be upset if the release date gets delayed. Whats the difference if its loaded a few days earlier if you cant start it up untill the 10th? However, I would like an icon to show up letting the eligible know that its coming to them soon, just a little something to give us hope.
the action is so intense and the polish and atmosphere of the game REALLY stands out. awesome stuff.. also. get an nVidia card for it :)

BTW my 9800pro runs D3 fine in 1024 and ultra high settings. Without the 'Improved Doom 3' catalyst drivers.
it's all a conspiracy and there really isnt a working version of the game.
but seriously, can cliffe give us some reasons for this.. it seems playable from the previews.well, they have to overhype things to make u go out and buy CZ. it's more fun that way aint it?either you are full of shit or your 9800pro has 500 megs of video ram on board for Ultra settings.
and dont go predicting who will outsell who.. you dont even know if HL2 will ever come out. If you look at the facts, only one of the games is actually selling.

My main point focused around the attention they gave the community, which includes support and information.
I highly doubt hl2 will be released sept. 1st.
I'd love to promise my boss I'd have a project done by a certain date, and then not do it.
The game has been playable in Korea, at G-Phoria now, and there still is some delay? (Sad face)
Back to Doom 3 for now then. Here's hoping the BETA comes out before I have to return to college near the end of the month where my initial net usage may be spotty at best.
BTW, my 9800xt can run doom 3 on ultra settings @ 1024x768 just fine too. type benchmark in the console (ctl+alt+~) and you can get your fps. I got 60 fps with AA @ 16x. Didnt notice any mouse lag even in huge rooms. God that game is scary.......and beautiful. It almost made me shit my panties.
They chose to involve the community, you don't have to purchase CZ or go to a cyber cafe, they are just offering it. That alone should be enough to satisfy you.
